The Coming Economic Nightmare

Can Christians Help Prevent it?

By Dr. Ken Matto

(Rev 18:14 KJV) And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

It is no secret that the United States is soon to be plunged into an economic crisis which will parallel or exceed that of the Great Depression. Right now everything is beginning to look bleak and just a few months ago it was looking like 1928 all over again.  1928 was a year of great prosperity.  Before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Judah had experienced a time of great prosperity.  In 2019-20 the USA experienced a time of great prosperity.

It must be known that the Great Depression did not just happen, it was well planned just like the Corona Virus fiasco. When the Federal Reserve System came into existence in the United States in 1913, it was the death knell for the U.S. economy as we went from a godly gold backed dollar to a debt based Federal Reserve Note. Did you know there is not a real paper dollar in circulation? Take a look at your money, every bill, regardless of denomination, says “Federal Reserve Note” and a note is an instrument of debt. Now this monograph is not a political essay on the evils of the Federal Reserve but I want to broach this subject from a spiritual vantage point.  If you care to read about the history of the Federal Reserve then go to my article on the Federal Reserve.

I wish to speak on the subject of a “Christian Bailout.” We see the failed policies of both parties in Washington as they do not know how to deal with the situation at hand concerning the degenerating economic condition we are in. So what is the answer that Washington gives? It is to throw fiat money on the fire and hopefully it will go out. The problem is that money is paper and paper burns and soon after this 6 trillion dollar stimulus, there will be more. I believe with all my heart that this economic crisis is part of the world situation which will precede the return of the Lord Jesus Christ although I am not setting a date.

(Luke 21:25 KJV) And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luke 21 is a prophetic chapter which details events shortly before the Lord’s return. The word I want to focus on in Luke 21:25 is the word “perplexity.” In the Greek it is the word “aporia” which carries with it the apt definition of “consternation, distress or difficulty.” It is used only once in the New Testament because it points to the last days which is the time we are living in right now. It also carries with it the idea of “the state of one who has no way or resource, and who therefore knows not what to do.” This is exactly the condition of every country in the world right now, not only economically but politically.

There seems to be no way out and the leaders are in a state of perplexity. Man has reached the zenith of his incompetence. The nations which have suppressed Christianity, have suppressed the only ones who can help their country. In those nations where it is still legal to be a Christian, those nations have a ray of hope.

Just as man has gotten himself into these problems which affect the entire world through individual nations, God can easily rescue these nations and bring them back to a sane and logical government. However, God would be very hard pressed to help a nation like the United States when one looks at how we got into such an economic upheaval. It was through base greed and blind stupidity. When the sub-prime lending fiasco finally hit home between 2007-10, one amazing fact came to light. Many people who could barely afford a used car were borrowing hundreds of thousands of dollars and living in $500,000 homes and then could not make the payments, we were supposed to bail them out so they can continue to live in their half million dollar homes? Vulture grade lenders were making big promises to people with big money who really could not afford it yet the commission of the sales and the inane greed of the borrowers, it was a marriage made in hell. In 2020, the great financial bubble has burst and if our country is not divinely bailed out, it will crash worse than it did in 1929. So then it seems that we are in the middle of a serious financial downturn, then how do we, as Christians, help our country? The answer is amazingly simple yet neglected by a majority of Christians.

(Mal 3:10-11 KJV) Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. {11} And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

God has made great promises in the Scriptures for those who choose to give to the work of the Lord.  Malachi 3:10-11 was speaking to ancient Israel that they were supposed to bring the tithes into the storehouse which was located in the temple.  Since we no longer are under the law of Moses and there is no more physical temple, after the timing of the cross, the temple is now the body of believers.  The storehouse is now the true dissemination of the gospel.  Whenever we give to legitimate missions or fund our own ministries which send forth the gospel, that is like bringing it in to the storehouse.

Giving to the work of the Lord does not entail supporting false ministries such as John Hagee, Joyce Meyer, Ken Copland, or any who teach a false doctrine. The giving that God has in view is to give to true ministries so that the true gospel will go forth to the ends of the earth. Ministries like Trans World Radio and HCJB (now called Reach Beyond) have been heralding the gospel for many years. Literature ministries like World Missionary Press print millions of Bible booklets in over 340 languages monthly in the USA and in different countries where prices are considerably cheaper.

If Christians were once again to open their wallets and support missions and support ministries such as the ones I mentioned, then God has promised to rebuke the devourer for our sakes. Malachi 3:11 is speaking of an agrarian situation but even though the milieu is different for today, the principle remains the same.  Right now the devourer is the Corona Virus and his sinful brother Fear.  If we are obediently sending forth the Gospel, then God will protect the source of our income so we can continue to send forth the Gospel. The Lord knows that we must have income to send money out and that is why He takes responsibility in guarding our source so we can continue to send forth that Gospel.

6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. 10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) (2 Corinthians 9:6-10)

This means that if enough Christians in our country begin to give again and the money starts flowing generously into the outpouring of the Gospel, then we will begin to see some economic healing. It seems that many Christians have forgotten or just simply neglected our reason of existence and that is to send forth the Gospel to the ends of the earth. When missions are once again well-funded, then our economy will heal by the hand of God. I believe Christian neglect of missions is at the forefront of the reason that our country’s economic base is being assaulted by evil forces because God has removed His hand of protection. Probably too many Christians think they were saved just to buy a bigger house or another gas guzzling SUV.

The reality is that the coming months are going to be an economic disaster if it is not averted and the way it can be averted is through Christian funding of missions. Too many cry out that they can’t give yet they can buy every CD from these “Christian Rock” bands. We live in critical times and now more than ever with the American economy so fragile and on the verge of collapse, we must turn our obedience back to God and give so the true Gospel gets funded. This also means that if you belong to a church which has a poor missions program, then don’t allow your money to get tied up there and to go for something that will not be spiritually beneficial to others. Give directly to missions and don’t concern yourself what others say, you be obedient. I believe that if Christians once again started to give of their money and themselves to the furtherance of the Gospel, that God will once again begin to bring about economic healing to this nation and make it strong again.  Remember God told Abraham he would not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah if he found 10 righteous.  There are much more than that in the USA.  The righteous are the truly saved and not religious sinners.  Let’s look at the principle God gave Abraham and apply it to the USA.

Don’t look for a pre-trib rapture to get you out of here because there is no such thing in Scripture.  God abides by His word, not prophecy books, theology books, or the imaginations of man.  We are all going to be here till the last day of man’s recorded history on Earth.  Now is the time to prepare because no one is going to be exempt from the evil times coming on the earth which will be increased.  The Book of Revelation teaches that there will be an increase in the intensity of persecutions as we progress pell-mell toward the last day.  Just to capsulize:  Revelation 6:8 speaks about one quarter of the earth; Revelation 8 speaks about one third of the earth; Revelation 16: speaks about the whole earth.  ¼>1/3>WHOLE.

How Shall We Give? Giving: A Dynamic of the Christian Life!

The time for obedience is now! You may scream because someone is telling you what to do with your money but if this economic problem is not met head on through spiritual warfare, then this nation, like many others will fall and then you will have nothing except a globalist slave state. (2 Cor 10:4 KJV) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)  If you do not want to heed this article then get ready to throw some mustard and ketchup on your CDs and see how tasty they will be.
