- With the removal of the Greek word “sophoo” they have removed a
description of God as being “wise.”
(1 Tim 1:17 KJV) Now unto the
King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory
for ever and ever. Amen. The Gnostics must have felt
that God is not wise, yet they themselves felt they were wise. When we look
at the creation, we see the wisdom of God before our eyes and when we read
the Scriptures we read the wisdom of God. In fact, the first eight chapters
of the book of Proverbs deals with the subject of wisdom. This removal of
the description of the wise nature of God is just another attack upon the
Doctrine of God because when you remove any portion of His description, then
you are attacking His character and wisdom is definitely one of the main
characteristics of God.
