Affected Teaching
The angel from the Lord was just about to make the announcement to Mary that she was going to bear the Messiah. The King James Bible makes it clear that the angel was definitely visible and speaking specifically to Mary. The modern versions make it look like she was just hearing a voice without seeing anyone specifically speak to her. The King James uses the word “she” in reference to Mary. Ten modern versions insert the proper name ”Mary” which is not found in this verse. The word for “Mary” in the Greek is “Maria” and is not found in this statement. They literally have added to the word of God.
