Affected Teaching

“and he said” is changed to “people were saying” and “mighty works” is changed to “miraculous powers”

King Herod was making a statement that John the Baptist was risen from the dead.  Herod made this statement not a group of people.  Mighty works is also much different than “miraculous powers” because the mighty works being done were done by the power of the Holy Spirit were as someone given miraculous powers would be doing the miracles out of their own power.  It removes the working power of the Holy Spirit and makes it man-centered.  The word in the Greek is “dunameis” which actually means “works of power.”
