(ASV) Seeing therefore it remaineth that some should enter thereinto, and they to whom the good tidings were before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,

(AMP) Therefore, since the promise remains for some to enter His rest, and those who formerly had the good news preached to them failed to [grasp it and did not] enter because of [their unbelief evidenced by] disobedience,

(CSB) Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience,

(CEB) Therefore, it’s left open for some to enter it, and the ones who had the good news preached to them before didn’t enter because of disobedience.

(CEV) This means that the promise to enter is still good, because those who first heard about it disobeyed and did not enter.

(ERV) So the opportunity is still there for some to enter and enjoy God’s rest. But those who first heard the good news about it did not enter, because they did not obey.

(ESV) Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience,

(HCSB) Since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience,

(ISV) Therefore, since it is still true that some will enter it, and since those who once heard the good news failed to enter it because of their disobedience,

(LEB) Since therefore it remains for some to enter into it, and the ones to whom the good news was proclaimed previously did not enter because of disobedience,

(LB) Yet the promise remains and some get in—but not those who had the first chance, for they disobeyed God and failed to enter.

(THE MESSAGE) God made that vow, even though he’d finished his part before the foundation of the world. Somewhere it’s written, “God rested the seventh day, having completed his work,” but in this other text he says, “They’ll never be able to sit down and rest.” So this promise has not yet been fulfilled. Those earlier ones never did get to the place of rest because they were disobedient. God keeps renewing the promise and setting the date as today, just as he did in David’s psalm, centuries later than the original invitation: Today, please listen, don’t turn a deaf ear . . .

(NABRE) Therefore, since it remains that some will enter into it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience,

(NASV) Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience,

(NCV) It is still true that some people will enter God’s rest, but those who first heard the way to be saved did not enter, because they did not obey.

(NET) Therefore it remains for some to enter it, yet those to whom it was previously proclaimed did not enter because of disobedience.

(NIRV) It is still true that some people will enjoy this rest. But those who had the good news announced to them earlier didn’t go in. That’s because they didn’t obey.

(NIV) Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience,

(NKJV) Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,

(NLV) Those who heard the Good News first did not go into His rest. It was because they had not obeyed Him. But the promise is still good and some are going into His rest.

(NLT) So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God.

(NRSV) Since therefore it remains open for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience,

(NWT-Jehovah’s Witnesses) Therefore, since it remains for some to enter into it, and those to whom the good news was first declared did not enter in because of disobedience,

(TLV) So then it remains for some to enter into it; yet those who formerly had Good News proclaimed to them did not enter because of disobedience.

(VOICE) So if God prepared a place of restand those who were given the good news didn’t enter because they chose disobedience over faith, then it remains open for us to enter.

(WEB) Seeing therefore it remains that some should enter therein, and they to whom the good news was before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,

Affected Teaching

“unbelief” is changed to “disobedience”

Unbelief may lead to disobedience but they are definitely two different things.  One of the biggest problems with Israel was that she wreaked with unbelief which led to her disobedience.  The modern versions m ake it sound like that salvation depends upon obedience making it a works gospel.
