Isaiah 65:14-25
Isa 65:14
Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye
shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.
At the present those in false religions are experiencing
a euphoria where they think they are all correct in their beliefs but there is
going to come a time when they shall realize the deception.
Many realize the deceptions in this world when they become truly saved
and then realize what they were saved out of.
Many who have been saved out of the cults realize how they were deceived
and desire to see others come out from them.
The true servant of God will rejoice but those who are still in false
religions will cry in sorrow because of the deception they were under.
The word “vexation” carries with it the meaning of “broken, destroyed or
afflicted.” In this condition, they
can only howl which carries with it the meaning of “wailing or cry out.”
Unless they become saved, their soul will cry out.
Isa 65:15
And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen:
for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:
The name of the idolaters will become a curse to the true
believers and will be used as a warning to them to never engage in any of their
religions and to show the difference between the true God and the idols.
Then the servants of God will be called by another name and we are given
that name in Acts 11:26.
And when he had found him, he brought him
unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves
with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called
Christians first in Antioch. (Acts 11:26)
The other name they will be known by is “Christians.”
Isa 65:16
That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless
himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by
the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they
are hid from mine eyes.
Then everything the true believer does is rooted in the
God of truth. If a true believer
desires a blessing upon another, he will do it in the name of the God of truth.
If a true believer desires to make a covenant with someone over
something, then he is to swear by the God of truth.
These things are done to make sure that the transaction goes as
covenanted realizing that when the name of God is invoked, that if anything less
than honesty will bring the judgment of the LORD down on the one who is not
keeping his end of the covenant. The
former troubles which caused men to falsely swear or would make a covenant which
they had no intention of keeping was something of the past and now those who are
truly saved, their past was wiped clean because of salvation and now they
operate on a new principle and that is within the covenant of grace.
And their sins and iniquities will
I remember no more. (Hebrews 10:17)
Isa 65:17
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and
the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
Then the great promise that God has made to the believer
is that he is going to make a New Heaven and a New Earth.
And I saw a new heaven and a new
earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was
no more sea. (Revelation 21:1)
That is the reason why the former things will not be remembered because it will
be remade in righteousness.
Nevertheless we, according to his
promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
(2 Peter 3:13) Evil will have
been removed and judged and nothing unclean will ever come into the new
creation. The former things
especially the former state of the Jewish and Gentile church which will become
one on the last day as all who were the Elect in both cases will be in the new
creation and will never have any differences again, not even so much as a
remembrance of them. Just think if
you did have remembrance, how much bliss would you enjoy knowing a close family
member is suffering in hell?
Isa 65:18
But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which
I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
Then the true believer will be in a state of bliss
forever because there will be no more persecution, verbal or physical, because
God created the new Heavens and New Earth for the true believers to live in
eternally. Then Jerusalem will be
created a rejoicing because the new Jerusalem is the body of believers in glory.
And I John saw the holy city, new
Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for
her husband. (Revelation 21:2)
The true believers who will inhabit the New Jerusalem will be in a state of
perpetual joy. Just like the hymn
says “It will be worth it all.” The
New Heavens and the New Earth is probably the greatest prophecy ever mentioned
in Scripture beside the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ throughout the Old
Testament.
Isa 65:19
And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people:
and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
Then the LORD himself will rejoice in Jerusalem because
sin has been eradicated and the entire body of believers is now present in it.
God will also rejoice in the joy of his people since he is the one that
true joy is rooted in.
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat
the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is
prepared: for this day
is holy unto our Lord: neither
be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)
Then the other great promise is that the body of believers will never
suffer again to the point of tears which means suffering loss.
Those days are gone forever as God removed those former things from his
children. And God shall wipe away
all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither
sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things
are passed away. (Revelation 21:4)
Isa 65:20
There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an
old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years
old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
The continuation of the blessings found in the New
Jerusalem in comparison to the Old Jerusalem is s stated here.
As we read in the previous verse that there shall be no more weeping nor
crying which means the curses which prevailed in the present world will no
longer be present in the new world.
In this world, we know that many children die at an early age whether it be by
abortion, disease or other factors.
That will be eliminated in the new Earth because death will no longer exist.
Then an old man will fulfill all his days in strength which means the
effects of sin will no longer be felt even by the older people.
We must realize that what is being taught here is a comparison between
the old world and the new world which would be remade in righteousness.
It says the child will die at a hundred years old.
Have you ever seen a hundred year old child?
This is speaking of the long life the Lord is going to give his children.
With long life will I satisfy him,
and shew him my salvation. (Psalm 91:16)
The long life is eternal life that the Lord gives to his children.
Then in contrast to the true believer receiving eternal life, the sinner
will died at a hundred and will be cut off.
10 in the Bible is the number of completeness which means a person who is
not the Elect of God will die completely in their sins.
For
such as be blessed of him shall
inherit the earth; and they that be
cursed of him shall be cut off. (Psalm 37:22)
This verse is basically teaching us about the fact that once a person
becomes saved, they will never have to worry about the effects of sin on a
person’s life because they are now in the kingdom of God and their soul will
live on eternally in glory.
Isa 65:21
And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and
they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
Then Isaiah reverts back to the time after the Babylonian
captivity when Judah once again is returned to the land.
Now they shall build houses and they will live in them and they will
plant vineyards and will eat of the fruit of those vineyards.
They will not have to worry about any enemy coming in and stealing from
them.
Isa 65:22
They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not
plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my
people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
Then the promise of the Lord continues that they will
build houses and also their vineyards and will not have to worry about anyone
stealing from them or killing them and taking it.
They will live strong as the days of the tree which continues to grow,
the trunk of that tree is in view and not the leaves which come and go each
season. Then the LORD qualifies the
statement by focusing on his Elect who will long enjoy the work of their hands.
It goes far beyond the boundaries of earth since the Elect are the
eternal people of God.
And I heard a voice from heaven saying
unto me, Write, Blessed are the
dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may
rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. (Revelation 14:13)
The works that the Elect do in this world will have far reaching results
into eternity.
Isa 65:23
They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for
trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their
offspring with them.
Nothing that is done for the sake of the LORD will be
meaningless, even if a task seems very mundane.
Nothing they will do will be for the purpose of causing trouble but the
gospel of the Lord brings division in this world between the saved and the
unsaved. The Lord himself, when he
was here on earth taught that very principle.
Think not that I am come to send
peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (Matthew 10:34)
This is why the true believer is so misunderstood in this world.
The unsaved see it as religion which causes division and strife but the
true believer sees it as the salvation of souls and a repudiation of religion.
Then the children of these believers will continue on as the parents
leave the world and go to glory.
They are called the seed of the blessed of the LORD which is another description
of the true believer.
Isa 65:24
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will
answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
The true believer’s relationship with the LORD is so
intimate that even before they call upon the LORD or pray to him, the answer
will be on the way and in contrast to those unbelievers who have been separated
from God because of their sins, the redeemed of the LORD will pray and as they
are praying the LORD will hear their prayers because they will be interpreted by
the Holy Spirit even if the true believer does not know what to pray at that
time.
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our
infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit
itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
(Romans 8:26) This is one of
the great blessings the true believe has in their life.
The Holy Spirit can interpret our intentions and desires and bring them
to the Father on our behalf. Notice
it states that the LORD “will” answer, not might or maybe.
Always keep in mind that “no” is a valid answer.
Isa 65:25
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion
shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
