Jesus
Christ – The Creator
By Thomas Golda
Most people do not know who their Creator is. Even many in the Christian
circles. They may say "God" is the Creator, but fail to understand that
the person in the Trinity that actually did the creating was Jesus Christ.
We already have proven that Jesus is "Omnipresent and Omniscient" - Matthew
18:20, Matthew 28:20, Revelation 2:23. Now we will show that Jesus is also
"Omnipotent." Below are all the verses that specifically indicate that
Jesus Christ is the Creator and by looking at these verses closely and the Greek
words used, we see even more amazing truths:
"ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM; and WITHOUT
HIM was NOT ANY THING MADE THAT WAS MADE. "
John 1:3
"He was in the world, AND THE WORLD WAS MADE BY HIM, and the world
knew him not." John 1:10
"But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in
him; and one LORD JESUS CHRIST, BY WHOM ARE ALL THINGS,and we by
him." I Corinthians 8:6
"FOR BY HIM WERE ALL THINGS CREATED, that are IN HEAVEN, and that are IN
EARTH, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM, AND FOR HIM"
Colossians 1:16
"And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the
beginning of the world hath been hid in God, WHO CREATED ALL THINGS BY
JESUS CHRIST" Ephesians 3:9
"And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth;
and the heavens are the works of thine hands" Hebrews 1:10
"Hath in these last days spoken unto us by HIS SON, whom he hath
appointed heir of all things, BY WHOM ALSO HE MADE THE WORLDS"
Hebrews 1:2
"And he that sat upon the throne said, BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.
And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful." Revelation
21:5
A couple of these verses I will go into greater detail, but I will give a short
summary on the others as well:
John 1:3 -
The Word that was God, Jesus Christ, ALL things were made BY Him. NOTHING
was made without Christ. This alone tells us Jesus is the Creator, is eternal,
and not one thing was made without Christ
I Corinthians 8:6
- ALL things are made BY Jesus Christ. All things are OF the Father, as He
is the commander of all things, but the person in the Godhead who actually did
the creating is Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 3:9 - Proof
that Jesus Christ by name is the Creator. Since "Jesus Christ" does not
exist in corrupt Alexandrian manuscripts in this verse, it illustrates that the
attempt to remove Jesus Christ as Creator has been going on for many hundreds of
years.
Hebrews 1:10 -
After calling Jesus God in Hebrews 1:8, God the Father indicates in Heb 1:10
that Jesus is Lord who created the heavens and the earth.
The remaining 4 verses I will go into greater detail:
"He was in the world, AND THE WORLD WAS MADE BY HIM, and the world
knew him not." John 1:10
The Greek word for WORLD is "KOSMOS" and
is used many times in the New Testament. It is used both in referring not
just to physical world, but the "people" in the world. So, we see that when John
1:10 says "the world (kosmos) was made by Him," meaning Christ, that Christ
is the Creator of everything the world contains. The world itself and all
that are in it....
"FOR BY HIM WERE ALL THINGS CREATED, that are IN HEAVEN, and that are IN
EARTH, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM, AND FOR HIM" Colossians
1:16
Colossians 1:16 is one of the most powerful statements on Christ as Creator.
Twice in this verse it says "ALL THINGS were created by Christ" IN HEAVEN and
IN EARTH. Just as Genesis 1:1 says, "In
the beginning God created the HEAVEN and the EARTH."
The Greek word HEAVEN in Colossians 1:16 is "OURANOIS" and in this verse
it is the "masculine plural." Literally meaning "heavens." When you
look at the other times this Greek word for heaven is used, it always refer to
heaven where God is - Matthew 5:16, Matthew 6:1, Matthew 6:9, and where angels
are - Matthew 18:10....30 other references are used. Since the word is
plural in the Greek in Colossians 1:16, we know that Christ not only created
all things IN HEAVEN where God is, He also created the lower heavenly realms
where the sun, moon and stars are located - Genesis 1:14-17
In Colossians 1:16, the word "earth" is the Greek word "GES" and is translated
as "earth,"as well as "land" and can be used to refer to the whole earth or a
localized land.
So, not only is Christ the Creator of things in heaven, He also created all
things in earth...mankind, animals, birds....
Colossians 1:16 goes even greater detail:
"...visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers"
Christ created things that are visible and invisible. Things we can see
and things we cannot. Also, thrones, dominions, principalities and powers.
So, Christ did not just create the heavens and earth, but all things in the
heaven and the earth, including all power and authority...
"Hath in these last days spoken unto us by HIS SON, whom he hath
appointed heir of all things, BY WHOM ALSO HE MADE THE WORLDS"
Hebrews 1:2
In Hebrews we have another statement that goes into more detail. THE SON,
who is Christ, made THE WORLDS. This is a most interesting wording in the
Greek. The Greek word for WORLDS is "aiōnas" and
is in the "masculine plural" in the Greek. That is why it is translated
"worlds." It is also the same word "worlds" used in Hebrews 11:3: "Through
faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God."
In addition, the Greek word " aiōnas" is also translated many times as "ages"
or "forever" in the New Testament. So when we combine all the truths, Christ
is the creator of the "worlds"(plural) whether the heaven above, the earth, and
even hell below. All these worlds, are created by Christ, in "all ages."
Meaning whatever exists in eternity past to eternity future, is all created by
Christ.
"And he that sat upon the throne said, BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.
And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful." Revelation
21:5
And finally...the New Heaven and New Earth is created by Christ as well. A
future creation, as He created all past creations.
So when we sum up.....Christ is the creator of the "world" (kosmos), the
"world" (ges), the heavens above (ouranois), and
all the worlds in eternity past and eternity future (aiōnas)
That is why the Bible says Christ created ALL things, in ALL worlds, in ALL heavens, in all eternity....
