Affected Teaching

When the Lord Jesus Christ came to earth that ushered in the last days.

Hebrews 1:1-2 (KJV)   God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, {2} Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

This is what Job was telling us in 19:25.  He knew that his redeemer lived and at the latter day he would stand upon the earth.  We know this as the first coming of Christ because he came to earth and for 30+ years he walked upon the earth.  His purpose for coming to earth was the salvation of the elect of God named before the foundation of the world.  If we look at how some of the modern versions translate this, it makes no sense.

CSB – “…he will stand on the dust.”  What exactly does that mean?

ESV – “…at the last he will stand upon the earth.”  Last what?

RSV – “…at last he will stand upon the earth.”  It sounds like he is saying “finally he got here.”

ERV – “…Stand here and defend me.”  What is Jesus coming to do?  Is he coming to defend people with an army or sword?  Job would be dead about 2,000 years when Jesus comes to earth.

Once again the King James has it correct stating that the latter day is when the Lord Jesus Christ would appear on this earth and his first coming ushered in the last days as we read in Hebrews 1:2.
