Jonah 3:4

As I am going through the book of Jonah I have found another serious error in the Septuagint.  Many theologians place much faith in the Septuagint but here is a very serious error which I came across recently.

Jonah 3:4 (KJV)   And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

Jonah 3:4 (Septuagint – Brenton 1851) And Jonas began to enter into the city about a day's journey, and he proclaimed, and said, Yet three days, and Nineve shall be overthrown.

In the Masoretic Hebrew the word behind “forty” is “arba” which is the number four.  When “arba” is in the plural it becomes “forty.”  The Hebrew word is “arba‘im” means it is a plural word in the Hebrew.  The Septuagint uses the word “treis” which in the New Testament Greek is “three.”  The word for "three" in the Hebrew is "shalowshe" which means it was an intentional change because both words are totally different.
