For there are certaine men crept in vnawares, who were
before of olde ordained to this condemnation, vngodly men, turning the grace
of our God into lasciuiousnesse, and denying the onely Lord God,
& our Lord Iesus Christ.
- (1587 Geneva Bible)
For there are certaine men crept in, which were
before of olde ordeined to this condemnation: vngodly men they are which
turne the grace of our God into wantonnesse, and denie God the
onely Lord, and our Lord Iesus Christ.
- (1526 Tyndale)

- Counterfeit Versions
- (1881 RV) For there are certain men crept in privily, even they who were
of old set forth unto this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of
our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus
Christ.
- (1901 ASV) For there are certain men crept in privily, even they who
were of old written of beforehand unto this condemnation, ungodly men,
turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only
Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
- (AMP) For certain men have crept in stealthily [gaining entrance
secretly by a side door]. Their doom was predicted long ago, ungodly
(impious, profane) persons who pervert the grace (the spiritual blessing and
favor) of our God into lawlessness and wantonness and immorality, and disown
and deny our sole Master and Lord, Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed
One).
- (CEB) Godless people have slipped in among you. They turn the grace of
our God into unrestrained immorality and deny our only master and Lord,
Jesus Christ. Judgment was passed against them a long time ago.
- (CEV) Some godless people have sneaked in among us and are saying, "God
treats us much better than we deserve, and so it is all right to be
immoral." They even deny that we must obey Jesus Christ as our only Master
and Lord. But long ago the Scriptures warned that these godless people were
doomed.
-
(CSB) For some people, who were designated for this judgment long ago,
have come in by stealth; they are ungodly, turning the grace of our God into
sensuality and denying Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.
- (1899 Douay-Rheims American Edition) For certain men are secretly
entered in, (who were written of long ago unto this judgment,) ungodly men,
turning the grace of our Lord God into riotousness, and denying the only
sovereign Ruler, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
- (ERV) Some people have secretly entered your group. These people have
already been judged guilty for what they are doing. Long ago the prophets
wrote about them. They are against God. They have used the grace of our God
in the wrong way—to do sinful things. They refuse to follow Jesus Christ,
our only Master and Lord.
- (ESV) For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were
designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of
our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
- (GNB) For some godless people have slipped in unnoticed among us,
persons who distort the message about the grace of our God in order to
excuse their immoral ways, and who reject Jesus Christ, our only Master and
Lord. Long ago the Scriptures predicted the condemnation they have received.
- (HCSB) For some men, who were designated for this judgment long ago,
have come in by stealth; they are ungodly, turning the grace of our God into
promiscuity and denying Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.
- (JB PHILLIPS) For there are men who have surreptitiously entered the
Church but who have for a long time been heading straight for the
condemnation I shall plainly give them. They have no real reverence for God,
and they abuse his grace as an opportunity for immorality. They will not
recognise the only master, Jesus Christ our Lord.
- (THE MESSAGE) What has happened is that some people have infiltrated our
ranks (our Scriptures warned us this would happen), who beneath their pious
skin are shameless scoundrels. Their design is to replace the sheer grace of
our God with sheer license—which means doing away with Jesus Christ, our one
and only Master.
- (NASV) For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long
beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the
grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord,
Jesus Christ.
- (NCV) Some people have secretly entered your group. Long ago the
prophets wrote about these people who will be judged guilty. They are
against God and have changed the grace of our God into a reason for sexual
sin. They also refuse to accept Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.
- (NIRV) Certain people have slipped in among you in secret. Long ago it
was written that they would be judged. They are godless people. They use the
grace of our God as an excuse for sexual sins. They say no to Jesus Christ.
He is our only Lord and King.
- (NIV) For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long
ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert
the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our
only Sovereign and Lord.
- (NLV) Some sinful men have come into your church without anyone knowing
it. They are living in sin and they speak of the loving-favor of God to
cover up their sins. They have turned against our only Leader and Lord,
Jesus Christ. Long ago it was written that these people would die in their
sins.
- (NLT) I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into
your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral
lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have
denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
- (RSV) For admission has been secretly gained by some who long ago were
designated for this condemnation, ungodly persons who pervert the grace of
our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
- (NAB-Roman Catholic) For there have been some intruders, who long ago
were designated for this condemnation, godless persons, who pervert the
grace of our God into licentiousness and who deny our only Master and Lord,
Jesus Christ.
- (NWT-Jehovah’s Witnesses) My reason is that certain men have slipped in
who have long ago been appointed by the Scriptures to this judgment, ungodly
men, turning the undeserved kindness of our God into an excuse for loose
conduct and proving false to our only Owner and Lord, Jesus Christ.

- Affected Teaching
- Here is an omission concerning God the Father. The book of Jude deals
with apostasy. God the Father, is the only Lord God, this does not take away
from the Lord Jesus Christ or the Holy Spirit. In a time of great apostasy
which Jude dealt with, there were many false gods and God the Father stands
in truth which is opposite of the false gods who were at the root of
apostasy in the lives of false teachers. These false teachers had crept into
the church with their belief systems and had not only denied the Lord Jesus
Christ but God the Father also. The modern versions hide the fact that God
the Father was also rejected by these false teachers along with the Lord
Jesus Christ. Any time someone brings a false gospel, they are, in essence,
denying the Trinity in its entirety.
