Luke 24:51-53
Luke 24:51 (KJB)
And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried
up into heaven.
As Jesus blessed them, He was parted from them and was received up into Heaven.
The last memory they would have of Jesus would be the fact that he blessed them.
(Acts 1:10-11 KJV) And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went
up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; {11} Which also said, Ye men
of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken
up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go
into heaven. The promise is that just as Jesus went into Heaven, He
would return again on the last day. (Titus 2:13 KJV) Looking for that
blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus
Christ;
Luke 24:52 (KJB)
And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
They had stayed there for a few moments and worshipped Jesus as he went back to
Heaven in His real triumphant entry. Meanwhile, the disciples had now returned
to Jerusalem to wait for the promise of the Father so the evangelizing of the
world could begin.
Luke 24:53 (KJB)
And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
There was much joy among the disciples and those who walked with Jesus during
His ministry here on earth. They had gone to the temple in boldness. Just a few
days before they were in fear for their lives but now they were bold in
assembling in the temple. Their boldness was to increase greatly once the Holy
Spirit comes upon them in ten days. (Acts 1:5 KJV) For John truly baptized
with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
