Did you ever wonder why the King James translators chose
the word “world” instead of the word “age?”
The Greek word behind “world and age” is “aiṍn” which may be translated
as either. The overwhelming
majority of the modern versions chose the word “age” instead of world.
The reason they chose “age” is that instead of translating the Bible they
interpreted it and injected the false teachings of dispensationalism into the
text. The dispensationalists
believe that the time frame of history is partitioned into several time periods.
The ones that are in view are the church age which they believe we are in
and the next age which they call the “Golden Age” or the Millennium.
So it would fit that the false Bible versions would try and fit the false
teaching of dispensationalism into their pages.
The problem for them is that the Bible does not recognize nor teach that a
golden age is coming after this time.
They believe in a pre-tribulational rapture and after they receive their
rewards, they will return with Christ and rule with him for a thousand years.
If you ever watched the TV show “Fantasy Island” then dispensationalism
is the religious form of that show.
Let’s let the Bible show us that it is impossible for another age to commence
after this one is over.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall
the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall
fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
(Matthew 24:29)
How do you fit 1,000 years into Matthew 24:29?
It says “immediately” after the tribulation, which for the believer is
from the first coming to the second coming of Christ, not a seven year period.
Christians have suffered torture and murder since the time of the cross.
The word “immediately” in the Greek is the word “eutheos” which carries
with it the meaning of “as soon as, forthwith, at once.”
Matthew 24:29 states that the universe will be collapsing as soon as the
tribulation time of the church is over.
The wording in both Greek and English forbid any further time period.
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his
Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
(Hebrews 1:2)
According to Hebrews 1:2, the last days began at the
time of Christ. If we are living in
the last days, then how can there be more last days after these last days?
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith
God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men
shall dream dreams: (Acts 2:17)
Here we read about the fulfillment of the prophecy of
Joel which is the day of Pentecost and here also it is called the “last days.”
If these are the last days, then how can there be more days after this?
Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have
heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby
we know that it is the last time.
(1 John 2:18)
The Greek word behind “time” is the word “hṍra” which
means “hour, day, instant, season.”
Here John confirms the teaching of Hebrews, Acts, Joel, Matthew that these days
are called the “last hour or day.”
Do you see how the Bible harmonizes its teaching and by this we know we are on
the right track?
This is why the King James translators used the phrase
“end of the world” and not “end of the age” because the time we are living in
are the final or last days and there is no golden age after this.
Last is last! The King James
translators harmonized this beautiful truth.
This is just another example of the lies that the modern versions spew to
appease a false belief system.
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that
of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up
again at the last day. (John
6:39)
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath
one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in
the last day. (John 12:48)
{28} Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the
which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
{29} And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the
resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of
damnation. (John 5:28-29)
The dispensationalists believe and teach that there will
be two separate resurrections, one for the believer and one for the unbeliever.
The Bible does not validate that false teaching.
We see above, in the Lord’s own words, where both the believer (John
6:39) and unbeliever (John 12:48) are going to be raised on the last day in one
general resurrection on the last day (John 5:28-29).
This is why the King James translators chose “world” because they knew
that the last day signifies the end of the world, not the end of an age where
another age follows.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the
night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the
elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are
therein shall be burned up. (2
Peter 3:10)
The underlined part speaks about the end of the world,
not the end of an age. Ages
dovetail into each other but the world being destroyed by fire is a cataclysmic
event which must take place so all the remnants of sin are totally destroyed.
Then after God remakes the world in righteousness, then and only then it
is eternal.
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for
new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
(2 Peter 3:13)
Once again the King James Bible shows its ultimate superiority by harmonizing a major truth whereas the modern versions just continue to engender confusion by infusion of false teachings. If you noticed in this article I included 9 foreign versions which also translated the word “aiṍn” correctly by the word “world” and not “age.”
