- Proverbs 2:6-10
- Prov 2:6 (KJB)
- For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and
understanding.
-
- Here is the only source for wisdom for the believer. The world has its
own wisdom.
(1 Cor 3:19 KJV) For the
wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh
the wise in their own craftiness. Whenever anyone
partakes in the wisdom of the world, they are setting themselves up for
destruction. The Lord Himself is the only source of true untainted wisdom.
The wisdom of the world is pervasively tainted by sin. The wisdom of God is
absolutely pure and is not defiled by anything. True knowledge and
understanding about God can only come from God and truth about Christian
living can only come from God Himself. As we continue to grow in wisdom, we
simultaneously realize that this growth in wisdom comes from God Himself.
Spiritual growth is a gift of God to those who earnestly seek His wisdom.
-
- Prov 2:7 (KJB)
- He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a
buckler to them that walk uprightly.
-
- Layeth up - Stores up as hidden treasure
- Buckler - Shield
-
- Those who live lives of uprightness will benefit from the hidden store
of wisdom God has for them. God gives this wisdom to them so they are able
to continue to grow in knowledge and understanding. To those that walk
uprightly, God is also a shield for them. He protects them from the arrows
of the ungodly who seek to bring a Christian down to their level. God will
protect the godly so their testimonies will stay intact as they are attacked
or when the ungodly attempt to entice them to do evil things.
(2 Sam 22:31 KJV) As for God, his way
is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler
to all them that trust in him. Those who are saved
will truly experience the protection of the Lord and I can almost guarantee
with certainty there will be many times God will protect us and we will not
even know that He did it.
-
- Prov 2:8 (KJB)
- He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth
the way of his saints.
-
- Keepeth - To watch over
- Judgment - Justice or ordinances
- Preserveth - Exercise great care or guard
-
- God continually watches over the ways of His people. Here we are told
that He carefully watches over the believers during any process of justice
they must partake of so their integrity will remain steady. Not only does He
watch over us in the paths of justice, he guards the steps of the believer.
(1 Pet 1:5 KJV) Who are kept by the
power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last
time. We are kept by the power of God. As we
continue to walk in biblical integrity God will protect the feet of His
saints. It is when we move outside the circles of obedience, is when God
begins to remove His hand to show us that we are walking on the wrong path.
It is not like He is letting us go, but He wants to bring us back into the
way of holiness. (Psa 34:15 KJV) The
eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open
unto their cry. God continually watches over His
Elect as he will never let us go to far.
-
- Prov 2:9 (KJB)
- Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity;
yea, every good path.
-
- Equity - Level path or uprightness
-
- Wisdom in the hearts of God’s people give them a working understanding
of the discernment between what is good and what is bad. It indwells us so
that we are able to deal properly with our fellow man while understanding
the workings of righteousness and justice. Then we will also understand the
makings of a level path. When the Lord Jesus Christ was presented at the
River Jordan to John, he made the statement that all valleys will be lifted
up and all mountains will be made low. Wisdom levels the playing field of
this world. What seems like a mountain to us, is really a plain to wisdom if
we follow Godly wisdom. The valleys also look like something which cannot be
crossed because of depth but it too is not a problem for wisdom because it
raises the ground so we may cross. Wisdom will guarantee that we will know
every good path that our lives should take and therefore we can prevent any
destructive paths which may bring us down. Righteousness, judgment, and
equity were found in Proverbs 1:3 bringing a harmony to the book of
Proverbs.
-
- Prov 2:10 (KJB)
- When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant
unto thy soul;
-
- Pleasant - Lovely
-
- Here God is stating that wisdom enters our heart and it is not just a
head knowledge. Wisdom is a way of life for the true believer. The knowledge
of God always brings about a loveliness in our soul and that love is focused
upon the Lord Jesus Christ who is the source of true wisdom for the true
believer. It is God who opens up the spiritual understanding of the believer
by the indwelling Holy Spirit. The world despises the wisdom of God because
it has its own counterfeit substitute but the believer treasures that wisdom
because as we grow in it, we see how much higher than the world’s way of
thinking is the wisdom of God.
