Affected Teaching
The portion of Scripture omitted in the modern versions is a very important part of this verse. The Lord Jesus will not only open the book but will loose the seven seals. The word “lusai” in the Greek is in the “Infinitive Aorist Active” which means that the action is Punctiliar and without time duration. It is not just a question of opening the book but Jesus will have a specific timetable when the seals are to be opened. The punctiliar action is an action which has taken place in the past and with the Aorist tense, the action has no specific duration.
