- ROMANS 12:1 - A WILLING SACRIFICE
- This verse tells us that we must become a living sacrifice to the
things of God and for others. Here are seven principles of sacrifice:
- 1. A sacrifice is fully burned which means total commitment
- 2. A sacrifice is messy which means that we may suffer in service to
others.
- 3. A sacrifice is presented to God, which means we must be sincere in
our duties. To have an an alternative
- motive in service means a sacrifice to a
false god, namely self.
- 4. A sacrifice is groomed for that purpose. The Bible teaches us that
we should arm our mind that we will suffer
- in the service of God. (1 Peter 4:1-2)
- 5. A sacrifice dies which means we must be dead to self when we serve
God. (Romans 6:11-12)
- 6. A sacrifice receives no reward. The only reward we are to expect
is knowing that we have done that which
- was required of us. (Luke 17:10)
- 7. A sacrifice is bound to the altar till it is completed. God will
keep us in the frying pan until the job He sent us to
- do is completed to His satisfaction. This is why
if you do not think you may finish a job, do not accept the
- responsibility for it. (Psalm 118:27)

- LIVING IN THE FEAR OF GOD
- The Definition
- The fear of God is a reverential respect and deference of
self to the almighty, sovereign God of this universe. When a child of God lives their life
in the fear of God, they have found the key to living an instrumental life for God and
accordingly increases in the knowledge of God - Prov. 2:1-5
-
- Hebrews 12:28-29 - "godly fear" - not a paralyzing
fear as in approaching danger rather it is a prudent fear which causes one to consistently
exercise self-examination as a person stands in the reverent awe of God.
- Unbelieving fear develops in the unregenerate mind and
usually develops scenarios or anxieties and is always linked to physical anxiety and
bodily degeneration. The fear of God in a believer's life is a healthy fear.
- When we submit ourselves to the fear of God or the
reverential respect of God, He promises us special blessings and understandings.
